| Sahira
began her career as a Middle Eastern dancer in Houston under
the direction of Thalia and Shakira Masood-Ali. Her travels
as a performer have allowed her to study several styles of
dance with many talented instructors including: Suhalia Salimpour
(Egyptian), Hadia (Gypsy Rom & Flamenco), Amel Tafsout
(North African), Helena Vlahos (Raqs Sharqi), Laurel Victoria
Gray (Persian), Aida Nour (Ghawazee), Artemis (Turkish), Fat
Chance Bellydance (American Tribal), and Domba (Tribal &
West African). |

Sahira's
focus is in Egyptian (Raks Sharki) style dance and American
Tribal Style. She performs five nights a week with BellaDonna,
and is founder and director of Houston's premiere Tribal
Style performance troupe, Urban
Gypsy. She also specializes in zill, fan, and fire dancing
with Empyrean
Fire Tribe. In addition to dance, she performs regularly
with the award-winning world fusion music group Moodafaruka
(flute, vocals and percussion), as well as early music ensemble
Istanpitta
(Renaissance flute and vocals). In the fall of 2005 Sahira
released her first instructional video: Arabian Spices,
and was also a vocalist on Istanpitta's newest CD release:
Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Saint Mary. Her online boutique,

In the summer of 2004, Sahira began performing
and teaching internationally, and since that time has performed
for audiences in Mexico, Indonesia, Australia, Taiwan, and
Egypt, and has been hired to teach workshops in Bali, Tasmania,
Taipei and Cairo in addition to innumerable events and workshops
around the United States.
